Past Runners Interviews

What a perfect start to a Sunday. The event was well organised and run smoothly, from the ease of picking up the race packs, to the races running on time, plus the fruit and water was a welcomed sight at the finish line. I will most definitely be back next year to cross off the half marathon from my bucket list.

I really enjoy travelling to Mackay each year for the Mackay Marina Run. It’s always such a fun day with heaps of atmosphere and plenty of running buddies to catch up with.

I didn’t know what to expect when I entered the Mackay Marina Half Marathon, but everything turned out great. The race itself was well organised. The volunteers are friendly and helpful.

I ran my first Marina Run five years ago and love it that much that I have run every year since. It’s a well-organised event with a great atmosphere and views to match.

The circuit was great, but the highlight was definitely to finish the run at the marina with all the friends and families cheering you home. A great event that was very well supported by BMA and the community!

I really enjoyed the hospitality at the Mackay Marina Run. The close local community added a relief to an otherwise tough race. Seeing where Australia’s best female distance runner, Benita Willis, grew up was the highlight of the day. The race itself was a great course. To end on such a beautiful harbour made the pain worth it. However, it is the community atmosphere that will make me return in years to come.

The Mackay Marina Run is one of the best running events to accomplish every year. I’ve competed in all the Mackay Marina Run so far. I have this event every year as one of my goals to achieve, beating my personal best time each time. I enjoy the run so much.

We can honestly say from the very beginning the atmosphere was exciting, the event volunteers were helpful, and the run was absolutely beautiful. Along the way we chatted to other runners, learnt about their experiences and goals, and thought to ourselves: can you believe we are doing this!

As a born and bred local girl I love seeing all the familiar faces running along the popular locations of Mackay in the Mackay Marina Run.

I love the feeling of finishing a run. As hard as it is to get out of bed at 5 in the morning, by 6.30 you have already achieved something for the day. I have never regretted going for a run.
