Julie says ‘just turn up to running, and let the magic happen.’
Q: Tell us what you like about running?
A: It’s the best way to relax the body and mind.
Q: Would you recommend running, and if yes, why?
A: Yes. Because running motivates you to be a better person.
Q: What distance are you training for in this year’s BMA Mackay Marina Run?
A: Half marathon.
Q: Tell us about some other runs you have done?
A: The BMA Mackay Marina Run since 2012; I started with the 5km fun run. I have done Mackay Marina Run half marathon a few times, and the 5km Corporate Challenge. I have also done the Airlie Beach Running Festival half marathon, Brisbane Marathon Festival half marathon, and I have done the Gold Coast Marathon. I recently trained for and ran a marathon here in Mackay one Saturday morning because a family member set a goal to run their first marathon and I was there for support and encouragement.
Q: What goals (running or otherwise) do you have for 2021/2022?
A: Just to enjoy running with friends, good times, fun and fitness.
Q: Do you usually train solo or as part of a group?
A: I train with a group, Southside Runners.
Q: What do you like most about the BMA Mackay Marina Run?
A: It is right on our doorstop, and very well organised.
Julie’s running tip: Find a friend or a group, turn up and the magic happens.
