Q: What do you like about running?
A: I love running for many reasons; it keeps me fit, I meet some wonderful like minded people, it provides me with energy and a clear mind to complete my days’ work and I believe it allows me to role model these benefits to my children and the younger generation.
Q: Would you recommend running and why?
A: Yes, for the reasons I like running.
Q: What distance are you training for in this year’s BMA Mackay Marina Run?
A: I am participating in the 21.1km distance again this year.

A: In addition to the BMA Mackay Marina Run half marathon I have participated in a marathon, ultra-marathon, some trail runs and an array of parkruns in different locations.
Q: What goals (running or otherwise) do you have for 2021/2022?t some other runs you have done?
A: I just did the Hamilton Hilly Half Marathon as training for my big event – the UTA (Ultra Trail Australia) 50km trail run in the Blue Mountains, Katoomba, NSW.

Q: What do you like most about the Mackay Marina Run?
A: The opportunity to participate in a local event with friends and know that we are collectively raising funds for a great cause, the Leukaemia Foundation.
Teresa’s running tip: you are never too old to start running. The running seed was planted in my then 48-year-old head to run a marathon before I was 50. I had no real long distance running experience under my belt and no cartilage under my left knee. This resulted in a journey of placing in the top three in a half marathon team’s event (Hilly Hamilton Half), and the Mackay Marina Half and culminated in a 3-hour 47-minute marathon 18 months later. That goal moved from ‘just finishing’ to achieving a sub 4-hour goal. If I can do it, anyone can! Running unlocks the potential in you…even if you don’t know it at the time!
