Lace up legends. The Mackay Airport Twilight City Run is happening this Friday and we can’t wait to see you at the start line! Whether you’re warming up for the BMA Mackay Marina Run, walking with friends or soaking up the sunset vibes along the waterfront, the countdown is officially on!
Here’s everything you need to know before we hit the pavement on Friday.
Will it still go ahead if it’s raining?
Yes! We’re running rain or shine – a little rain won’t stop our fun! That said, we always have safety in mind so be sure to follow us on socials to stay across any important event communications. In the event of extreme weather or other unexpected circumstances, we will broadcast advice throughout our social channels and to our registered runners.
What time does the race start?
The event starts at 6pm, so arrive from 5:00pm to secure your place on the start line. You’ll find us at ‘Whale Bones’, Mackay Bluewater Quay, River Street. Arriving from 5:30pm gives you time to stretch, snap a few sunset photos and soak up the pre-race vibes as the city transitions to twilight. There’s nothing quite like running as the sun sets over the waterfront.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as we adore them, furry friends are not permitted on Friday night.
What about bikes and scooters?
These are a firm no. For safety reasons, the course is strictly for runners and walkers – no bikes, e-bikes, scooters or e-scooters.
What can I bring?
You can bring kids and prams, friends and family, great attitudes and all the positive vibes. And yes, husbands are allowed (but optional!).
More than just a run
The Mackay Airport Twilight City Run is a great precursor to the BMA Mackay Marina Run, but also a great way to give back. All proceeds will be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation in their fight to end blood cancer. You can also donate here.
