When is the event and what time does it start?
The event is Sunday 4th June 2023. For the race start times, please see the race details page.
How do I enter?
Online registrations commence on 1st February 2023. See the registration prices and dates here.
- Only registrations for the 21.1km, 8km, 5km and 3km will receive a singlet/t-shirt if registered by 17th April 2023.
- Registrations after that date will receive a t-shirt/singlet if available.
- Corporate Challenge Teams do not receive an event t-shirt as part of registration.
How do I obtain up to date event information?

Where and when can I collect my race bib?
Race pack collection between 12.00pm and 4.30pm on Saturday 3rd June at the Marina Village car park on Mulherin Drive. If you are unable to collect your race pack a friend can collect for you, please give them your email confirmation to present.
If shirts/singlets/race bibs are not collected by 4.30pm on Saturday 3rd June at the Marina Village car park on Mulherin Drive they will not be available unless prior arrangements are made with the committee.
What are the race starting times?
Click here to see the race details page. Please take note of the recommended arrival times. With road closures and the large number of entrants and supporters travelling to the event, expect delays at the entry to the marina precinct.
What do I get for my entry fees?
With your entry fee, you will receive a shirt/singlet (if registered by 17th April) as well as a timing chip and race bib. The entry fee covers marketing/logistical/admin cost of running, and prizes. The Leukaemia Foundation is the nominated charity of the Mackay Marina Run and receives a donation post event.
Should you wish to individually support the Foundation you can do so by making a donation when you register or go to Fundraising for Leukaemia.
Do all place winners receive a trophy?
Trophies are awarded to first, second and third place getters in each open race. Places in each race are awarded on gun times.
- In age categories only first place getters receive a trophy.
- Age category winners are awarded on net times.
When are trophies presented?
All trophy winners will receive a text and the presentations take place at 10.30am in the BMA Recovery Tent at the Finish Precinct.
What happens if I cannot make the event?
Withdrawing on or before 11.59pm, Sunday 30th April 2023: You will receive a refund, less a cancellation fee.

Can I transfer between events?
Can I enter more than one event?
Yes, you are able to enter more than one event. Please be aware of event start times on the race details page.
Do the events have a cut off time?
Yes, 3 hours for the Half Marathon and 75 minutes for the 8km.
Can I walk the 5km race?
Yes you may walk in the 5km and Corporate Challenge team event. Due to the large number of registrations, walkers are asked to start at the back of pack.
Can my dog run/walk with me?
No, animals are not allowed. This is a safety issue and we ask that you respect this policy.
Is the course open to Cycles, Roller Blades, Wheelchairs, Prams/Buggies, Skate-Boards?
Prams only are allowed. Wheelchair competitors please contact the race organiser via the Contact page for course information.
Do I have to pay entry fees for my children?
Children under 8 years may accompany their parent(s) in the 5km fun run, or the 5km Corporate Challenge ONLY, as a non-registered, non-paying participant.
Are there age limits for competitors?
Yes.
21.1km Half Marathon – Must be minimum of 16 years on day of event.
8km – Must be minimum of 12 years on day of event.
5km – Children must be 10 years of age to run unaccompanied. Children under 10 years on the day of the event must have a parent/guardian accompanying them.
3km – Children must be a minimum of 8 years and maximum of 13 years of age on the date of the event. Adults/parents are unable to accompany these entrants during the race.
What road closures will be in effect?
See the race details page to find information about any road closures.
Where are the aid stations?
See your nominated event for aid station information on the website.
Will there be sports drinks at aid stations?
Yes, only for the 21.1km Half Marathon.
Will there be a limit on entries?
Entries will be monitored and there may be a need to close entries at some stage.
Will there be parking available at the Marina?
There is parking at the venue. Please follow directions from our officials on the day. Competitors and spectators are encouraged to carpool to ease congestion.
Do I have to hand my timing chip back in?
No – the timing chips are a throw away variety but please dispose of appropriately.
When will the results be available?
Results will be online on Sunday 4th June.
Are there any toilets along the course?
Public toilets are at the Old Mulherin Park, Marina, Gooseponds, Bluewater Quay and Surf Club. In addition portable toilets will be stationed at the start and Willets Road.
Can I run with earphones?
Event management strongly advise competitors not to use them.
Will there be medical staff?
First Aid responders will be in attendance at the finish line and throughout all race courses.
How will vehicles be controlled during the races?
Traffic control plans will be in place using police, traffic controllers and course marshals. All competitors must obey road rules and give way to traffic should the situation arise.
How do I support or raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation?
There are 3 ways to support the Leukaemia Foundation:
- Make a donation when you register.
- Fundraise for Leukaemia.
- Volunteer to assist on the day.
How do I become an Event Volunteer?

Will the event be cancelled?
The Mackay Marina Run will only be cancelled if extreme conditions dictate the risk to competitors is too high to stage the event. Modifications to the course (such as the closure of the breakwater) may occur, again on the advice of authorities and due to weather conditions.
How many people are allowed in a Corporate Challenge team?
A team is minimum 3, maximum 10.
Do all team members have to run the entire race?
No. At least 3 have to finish to qualify for the fastest team category.
Do Corporate Challenge team members receive a t-shirt?
No – the registration fee for a team is cheaper than for an individual entrant. The race organisers encourage teams to ‘dress up’ or wear their corporate colours/shirt and be in the running to win the “Best Dressed” trophy.
Under 18s in your Corporate Challenge team?
Corporate Challenge Team Captains please note: if registering a person under 18 years of age, additional information is required in the registration platform.
This additional information must be entered for each team member under 18 years.
- Parent/Guardian First and Last Name.
- Parent/Guardian date of birth.
- Relationship of Parent/Guardian to person being registered.
- Mobile phone number of Parent/Guardian.
- The registration process will be smoother if team captains gather this information prior to commencing the registration process.
