If you want to be a part of the action without putting your racing shoes on, the best way is to volunteer. Volunteering gives you behind the scenes access on race day and opportunities to motivate and support runners.
If you or your organisation are interested in being part of the magic that is the BMA Mackay Marina Run, please reach out below for information on how you can be involved.
A big thank you to everyone who supported previous years events; Mackay West Rotary, students of St Patrick’s College, Mackay Surf Lifesaving, LRC Running Club, TriActiv8, Leukaemia Foundation Mackay Branch, Mackay Road Runners, Volunteers Clontarf Academy and Pioneer Valley Man’s Shed. Thank you to race bag packers including RACQ Rescue and Run for MI Life.
These key community organisations are integral to the BMA Mackay Marina Run. Events like ours can’t happen without valuable help.
Volunteering at the BMA Mackay Marina Run over the last 3 years has been a rewarding experience. Both in joining with the wonderful hard working and enthusiastic organisers to support this event and by cheering on the participants of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Everyone shows great spirit and dedication to giving their all on the day.

It is also exciting to note that funds raised during this event are donated to a very worthwhile cause in the Leukaemia Foundation. This organisation is dedicated to supporting people diagnosed with a blood cancer and their families during treatment and recovery whether with accommodation when away from home or assisting with practical, financial or emotional concerns. The foundation is also committed to continuing to fund research and new trials and hope to eventually assist in the discovery of a cure for all blood cancers.
We would encourage everyone to support this wonderful organisation by joining our great bunch of volunteers. A few hours to enjoy a great day and share the load. You won’t regret it.
